Wi-LAN Inks $6M Deal

Calgary company Wi-LAN Inc. --a developer of wireless broadband technology -- signed an agreement with Hermes Technology for more than $6 million yesterday.

The two-year agreement sees Hermes agree to sell product to broadband wireless service providers in New Zealand, Australia and surrounding island countries.

"We are excited to be signing our first major agreement for the New Zealand and Australia region," said Nico Roelofsen, vice-president of International Sales for Wi-LAN.

"With this agreement we can add Hermes Technology to our growing worldwide network of Wi-LAN equipment providers."

Officials with Hermes Technology also welcomed the deal.
