N2 Broadband extends pacts with TWC, HBO

It's all about customer retention. Time Warner Cable and HBO remain committed to N2 Broadband's content delivery system. The companies are deploying N2's MediaPoint Business Management System over multiple TWC divisions in the United States.

The MediaPoint system is designed to help cable operators manage video-on-demand, says N2. The system, which is based on the Interactive Services Architecture (ISA) open standard developed jointly by N2 Broadband and Time Warner Cable, transfers VOD content to cable servers using open standards-based software and hardware. MediaPoint BMS automates the process of receiving, prioritizing and propagating on-demand content at the cable headend.

HBO already has deployed its HBO On Demand service using the MediaPath content delivery system at its AOL Time Warner afflilated division of Warner Bros. HBO plans to expand its use of MediaPath, first at its facility in Long Island, N.Y., and then to other affliated cable headends across North America.
