Vyyo brings high-speed access
to North Dakota

Just because someone lives in the rural area of Southwestern
North Dakota does not mean a high-speed Internet connection is
out of the question. Consolidated Telecom is turning to Vyyo Inc.
to enable the delivery of high-speed wireless access to three
North Dakota cities.
Consolidated will deploy three of Vyyo's MMDS super
cells to bring broadband access to its rural customers in Dickinson,
Scranton and Killdeer. Vyyo's super cells enable operators to
deliver service to thousands of users from a single site. The
deployment of three MMDS super cells will cover a total area of
10,750 square miles.
The fixed-wireless broadband system provider's systems
are based on the IP used for data transport over wireless networks.
Once the North Dakota installation is complete, Vyyo's
systems integration partner Dalager Engineering will have installed
15 Vyyo hub sites in less than 18 months.
Last month, Vyyo reported net revenues of $1.8 million
for the first quarter of 2002, down from $3.3 million in the previous
quarter. The company posted a net loss of $1.8 million, or 5 cents
per share. As of March 31, Vyyo had cash, cash equivalents and
short-term investment balances, net of current liabilities, of
$72 million.
