N2 Broadband inks SVOD deal

Liberty Media subsidiary Starz Encore Group has selected N2 Broadband Inc.'s MediaPath technology to deliver subscription video-on-demand services to US cable operators.

The MediaPath content distribution system is designed to provide secure point-to-multipoint delivery of on-demand content to cable system headends. Starz Encore will use the technology to deliver its Starz On Demand services. Starz On Demand is an enhancement to the Super Pak, which enables the delivery of video-on-demand for a flat monthly fee, rather than a per-use fee.

Starz Encore plans to deploy the MediaPath technology later this year.

The MediaPath technology has been used in 160 commercial deployments, according to N2 Broadband. N2 Broadband's technology is used to distribute and manage video-on-demand content from HBO, iN DEMAND, Warner Bros. and other entertainment companies. "We now have firm agreements in place with every major SVOD content player," said Reggie Bradford, N2's president and CEO.
