Com21 XB System makes its debut in Costa Rica

Com21 has officially broken its DOCSIS-based XB System out of the box for a trial in Costa Rica.

Amnet Telecom has agreed to trial the XB System, which consists of the DOXcontroller 1000XB cable modem termination system, the NMAPS XB network management software and the DOXport 1110XB cable modem. The DOXport 1110XB cable modem received DOCSIS 1.1 certification from CableLabs Inc. in July.

Prior to the field trial, Com21 said it had conducted interoperability testing with TollBridge Technologies TB200 Voice Gateway for Com21's ATM-based ComUNITY Access System and its DOXcontroller XB System.

The systems provider for the broadband access market plans to begin volume shipping of the system in the fourth quarter.
